Baked Pear with Cinnamon Recipe

What are baked pears?

So baked pears are usually one of those things we don’t often think of when we think of sweet treats. But they’re a really customisable dessert and what’s more is that they’re low calorie and great for weight loss. I’ve got a list of baked pear recipes as long as my arm that I want to share with you. First I’m sharing this super simple Baked Pear with Cinnamon Recipe because sometimes less is more. The natural sugars in the pear mean that this is a naturally sweetened dessert.  I used conference pears but any type of pear or apple will do. This recipe is for 1 serving so don’t forget to increase ingredients if you need more servings.

Pears are high in fibre and vitamin C, they’re also loaded with antioxidants. Fruit is high in natural sugars so when heated they need no help caramelizing and tasting almost like toffee! The added cinnamon in this recipe gives the dessert a warm yet autumnal feel. It really gets you in the mood for mulled wine whatever the time of year! I think I’m definitely going to have to add this recipe onto my autumn recipes list! I don’t know why I didn’t think of these at the time! The best part of this dish is that it takes seconds to prepare. Then you can chuck it in the oven and walk away until the timer beeps!

Do you have a diet restriction?

This baked pear recipe is great for a wide variety of diet restrictions including:

  • Vegan
  • Vegetarian
  • Gluten Free
  • Dairy Free
  • Nut Free
  • Low GI
  • Low Fat
  • Paleo

Step 1: Preheat oven

Firstly, preheat your your oven to 180°c and cut your pear in half lengthways. There’s no need to peel your pear, the skin will soften up along with the rest.

Step 2: Season and bake!

Place your pear on a lined baking tray and sprinkle on some cinnamon. Optionally, you can also add your choice of sweetener, If your choosing a liquid sweetener such as honey or maple syrup I would add this 10-15 minutes before the end of cooking rather than now as it may burn before its ready.

Bake your pear in the oven for around 45 minutes or until golden and soft.

Et Voila!

Don’t forget to tell me in the comments whether you like your pears on their own or paired 😉 with something else? Is this Baked Pear with Cinnamon Recipe your favourite way to prepare pears as well?
