Carrot Fries Recipe

What are carrot fries?

Whilst I was planning my Mixed Bean Burger recipe page, I thought I must do a quick and easy fries (or chips, if you’re in the UK like me) recipe to go with these fantastic burgers. So here’s the equally fantastic Oil free Carrot Fries Recipe. Carrot fries are just like potato fries except instead of being made from potato, they’re made from carrot and typically much sweeter! Because this recipe is so quick, it also makes for a very short recipe. I’d love to try this recipe with rainbow carrots but I didn’t have much luck growing those this year. I’ll try again next year! The photo I have here does actually feature a few potato fries too as I ran out of carrot, but they’re not as cool so ignore them, I’ll get round to taking better photos eventually!

Step 1: HealthyHeartyWholesome BBQ Seasoning

These chips use a BBQ seasoning that I have specially created myself, its really worth making and it only takes 5 minutes. Check out the recipe for my BBQ seasoning. Once you have your seasoning prepared you’re half way there. You should also probably remember to pre heat your oven to 180°c right about now.

Step 2: Cut the carrots into fries.

Cut your carrot into 1cm wide batons and place in a bowl or a zip-lock bag and spray or drizzle with water. The water is just to help the seasoning stick. Add a generous dose of BBQ seasoning, I usually add around a tablespoon but you can add as much or as little as you like and shake the bag or toss the vegetables around in the bowl until the chips are well coated. Transfer to a baking tray and bake for 20-30 minutes until crispy and brown on the corners.
